Tony - Man that was sure fun getting back into things, and I'm pretty stoked for this adventure setting.

OK so from what I see, these are some of the options for our party for the next session. These are in no particular order or ranking.

1) Investigate the weird music that our Hunter is hearing. Of course I'm sure it's an ambush of some sort but what the heck.

2) Find out who Crazy Joe is, track him down, and see if we can get some more info from him. Maybe catch him when he's sober, or in a less bats$it crazy mood
Laughing

4) It looks like the professor was interested in some items buried in the Restlands by the priests of Pharasma long ago. From his journal, he was going to attempt to find them, but I can't tell if he had succeeded or not. He needed them before he made his last trip to investigate the prison (Harrowstone). Maybe it was the books he left us????

5) The professor was looking for a list of names of people who died when the prison burned down - he was convinced The Way was looking for someone in those ruins. He thought the Temple of Pharasma would have a list. Looks like that's another place we need to go to investigate.

6) Figure out what was up with the green raven - maybe it wanted us to follow it? Maybe it will come back again? I wonder if it flew in the direction that the weird music is coming from Idea

7) Our main job is to look over Kendra, so maybe we need to see what she wants to do over the next month. Does she have any skills that can help us? It would be nice if she had a class and could NPC with us as we leave town to investigate stuff - otherwise, we risk something happening to her if we leave her alone Shocked

Yes, was definitely fun and should pick up quite a bit in the next session. It's always the case when you kickoff a campaign that the first night of play is a bit slow due to CharGen.

You sum up the choices quite nicely so we'll just see how the characters work their way through the various leads presented to them. Next session should be next Friday (2/27) at 8:30.

Later in the evening on what will come to be known as The Day of the Wicked Fiddle...

The PCs escort the poor catatonic elven wafe back to the Temple of Pharasma. She seems oblivious to all your questions and queries and is clearly an escapee from some asylum. There you find the dour priest Father Grimburrow and his acolytes. They are bereaved at the sight of the headless remains of their dear, dear friend Brother Kenny, slain by the ghoul wolf outside of the cemetery.

Given the shocking events of the day and the loss of one of their acolytes, it seems best to delay a conversation about the rumored cache of items that the professor mentioned in his journal. The old priest has no idea who the woman is, but says that he will see that she is escorted to a hospital in Ardis where, in all likelihood given the fact that she is wearing the remains of a straightjacket, she has been previously held. The area of the cemetery where you found her is old and unused of late, being the burial ground of some tragic group of Varisian travelers who were slain long ago. He knows nothing of the fiddle that the paladin smashed into tiny fiddle bits, but is satisfied that the undead menace is now no longer a threat. As a reward for your service to the community, he gives you a scroll of Cure Light Wounds and then bids you a good evening.

Over dinner, Kendra speaks briefly about her father's journal and the mysterious contents therein. She acknowledges that the Professor kept a library here in the manner and of course you are welcomed access it at your leisure. She suggest that their are other places where one might research such as; he Ravengro Town Hall, the Temple of Pharasma, and the Unfurling Scroll (a combination school and arcane supply house). Given the success you had today, it is likely that all of those locations would consider your requests to peruse their libraries. After the evening meal, Amicus has convinced Kendra Lorrimor and a few others to the join him at the Laughing Demon for a bit of drinks and entertainment. It would be a fine place to pick up any news or rumors regarding the various story lines you're pursuing.

A quick summary....

  • On the way to the pub, the party spies a few members of the night watch examining the town monument. Since it's rather dark out, it seemed odd, so we investigated.

  • Someone had desecrated the statue, throwing quite a bit of blood on it, and scrawling a V on one side of the plinth. Though no tracks were spotted, near the statue, the hunter and halfling, went looking for the spot where we had spied Crazy Joe lurking in the tall grass earlier the day before.

  • The wolf was able to track Crazy Joe back to his Tree House some 2-miles to the south of town.

  • Crazy Joe is actually Antrellus the Mad, and is more than a little paranoid. He has his shack/treehouse complex trapped and well defended.

  • We slowly made our way over the seining drawbridge thanks to Alinza's rope and Edgar the Archaeopteryx who flew the rope to the other side.

  • After incredible hijinks and sparring by the Ruby our halfling gardner, Antrellus had his lights punched out by the group.

  • Antrellus seemed to be operating under the delusion that we were part of the Cult and babbled on and on about various things. He gave us a clue about the ghost raven we had seen on the night of the funeral. It appears it had been a spy of the cult and he had slain in, stuffing it in a pool somewhere.

  • Before we could get the poor crazy dude back to town, he had a chest-burster incident. Apparently, the Cult had already gotten to him after all. We slew the weird-looking critter.

  • The next day, we did some research at the Temple of Pharasma and the Lorrimor Manor, picking up some clues about Harrowstone Prison and the Whispering Way. Ruby and Tevrin hung out at the pub and chatted up the locals. There they found out more info about the town monument and the fire at the prison.

  • As the session came to a close, it is the evening of the 3rd day. We've determined that there is more to learn about both of our research subjects, but that the Lorrimor library is a bit incomplete and we'll need to explore other sources in town. Alinza was able to convince the local priest Father Grimburrow to allow us to search the Restlands for the hidden cache of weapons and tools against the undead.
